Kimliboo Candles
Tracie AKA Kimliboo Candles, creates hand poured soy wax candles and wax melts. Eco-friendly, vegan-friendly and plastic free, each hand-poured candle is made in small batches with high quality 100% soy wax and a wood wick that creates a soft crackling sound as it burns. Look out for delicately coloured candle pots, 'bubble' ombre candles, and wax melts all scented with delicious fragrance oils.

Interview With A Maker
Name/Business
Kimliboo Candles
Describe your art/craft?
I make hand poured fragranced soy wax candles and wax melts that are eco-friendly and vegan-friendly.
How long have you been creating? How did you learn your craft or were you self-taught?
I started experimenting with candle making during the first lockdown after buying a DIY kit. I watched endless videos and made lots of practice candles which I gave to friends and family to try out for me and provide me with feedback. When I was happy that I had produced a quality product, I decided to start selling them and set up my own shop in November 2023.
What are your favourite art/craft 'tools of the trade'?
My fragrance oils. I love receiving a new one that I have decided to try and seeing the reaction on my family's faces when they smell the new candle for the first time.
Where is your creative space?
I make all of my candles and melts in my kitchen at home.
What do you watch or listen to when you're creating?
I enjoy the peace and quiet when I work so I don't get distracted. This can be tricky at times in a typical busy household with two dogs and a family of four!
What's your best selling product?
I haven't really got a best selling product yet as each market I've attended has had a different best-seller. One week it is bubble candles, another week it might be the wooden wick candles. Last week it was wax melts! Even the best selling fragrance has changed from market to market - Mango and passion fruit or my new wood sage and sea salt fragrances seem to be the most popular at the moment.
Favourite thing you've ever created? Do you still have it, or did you sell/gift it?
My first bubble candle. I was so pleased it had come out of the mould in one piece as I had read so many articles on how difficult it can be to de-mould them. I remember watching it as it burned as I was fascinated by how the unusual shape would melt.
Random fact about yourself?
I am a former primary school teacher.
What new craft would you love to try?
As a child I received a battery operated toy potter's wheel one Christmas. Since then I have always wanted to have a go at the real thing. My daughter and I did attend pottery classes for a while where we learnt a range of clay techniques such as coiling and slab-building but using a potters wheel was ultimately what I wanted to try.
Where can customers buy your products?
I have my own shop at https://www.mademe.co.uk/shop/kimliboo/
where you can see the full range of my products. I have also started to run a stall at a selection of craft fairs and markets which I promote on my facebook (@kimliboo.candles) and instagram (@kimliboo.candles) pages.
Give a shout-out to a fellow artist or crafter you admire!
Emma Jayne Robertson, of EJaRt Creative, whose pottery classes I attended.
