Name/Business
Faye Gosling Craft
Describe your art/craft?
Basketry and willow work. I love working with natural materials and creating beautiful, functional objects as well as sculptural pieces.
How long have you been creating? How did you learn your craft or were you self-taught?
I trained as a fine artist and have moved more towards traditional crafts in the last year while I was studying at Fosen Folkehogskole in Norway. I made my first basket last autumn and I am obsessed!
What are your favourite art/craft 'tools of the trade'?
A sharp knife!
Where is your creative space?
I have recently moved to Suffolk from London to and have a studio there.
What do you watch or listen to when you're creating?
Usually Podcasts, my favourite at the moment is This American Life, or some funky tunes!
What's your best selling product?
The Gathering Basket, it's perfect for collecting veggies from the garden!
Favourite thing you've ever created? Do you still have it, or did you sell/gift it?
The first willow backpack I made, it is so cute and practical. I kept it for myself but am planning on making more to sell too!
Random fact about yourself?
I live on a Narrowboat!
What new craft would you love to try?
Quilting
Where can customers buy your products?
Currently just at markets, but I will be setting up an online shop soon
Give a shout-out to a fellow artist or crafter you admire!
My friend Ellen W. Klim, the tanning queen! She makes beautiful textile pieces, including tanned sheep and reindeer rugs and garments. She also works with wood, and makes amazing spoons and boxes. You can find her work at @kalddetkreativ on instagram
