Interview With A Maker
Name/Business
Hanneah and her Nan AKA Hanandnan
Describe your art/craft?
Upcycled clothing , especially denim; and hand-painted black and white ceramics. This includes decorative plates, salt and pepper pots, nibble bowls, clocks, plaques and mugs.
How long have you been creating? How did you learn your craft or were you self-taught?
Nan has been doing craft as long as I can remember and I’ve always liked to do odd bits. Like many, the third lockdown was what gave us the push to turn it into a business.
What are your favourite art/craft 'tools of the trade'?
We would both say our hands are our best tools
Where is your creative space?
I have a desk, however, I craft and create all over the place, including the beach. Nan has a room in Cobweb Cottage filled with crafts.
What do you watch or listen to when you're creating?
We both love listening to Meatloaf whilst crafting.
What's your best selling product?
Our best selling product is our hand painted nibble bowls. They go down a treat both on Etsy and at craft fairs.
Favourite thing you've ever created? Do you still have it, or did you sell/gift it?
Nans favourite creation is a magical doorway painted on the outside of Cobweb cottage where the original door would have been before conversion. Sometimes delivery guys try to knock at it.
Hans would be 4 customised plates for a bride to give to her bridesmaids. They all had a unique theme and it was so much fun to try new ideas.
Random fact about yourself?
Hanneah is terrified of foxes.
Nan is a professional Tarot reader.
What new craft would you love to try?
We would both absolutely love to try pottery. My future aim would be to make our own ceramics to paint.
Where can customers buy your products?
We have an Etsy page but can also be message on Instagram or Facebook. We try to do plenty of craft fairs throughout the year too.
Give a shout-out to a fellow artist or crafter you admire!
I’m shouting out to Lillyque Polymer. Nan and I both have lots of her earrings each, she’s local and so supportive of us.
