Interview With A Maker
Name/Business
Becky - Just All Good Things
Describe your art/craft?
Homemade toiletries made with natural ingredients; and items made from upcycled materials such as my handstitched leather goods made from factory off-cuts.
How long have you been creating? How did you learn your craft or were you self-taught?
I've always loved getting messy and making things. I did a National Diploma course in general art and design many moons ago and have done short courses in printing and ceramics.
What are your favourite art/craft 'tools of the trade'?
I've got some wickedly sharp handmade knives which make cutting leather a dream, but I do have a favourite Faber Castel steel ruler I've had since 1990.... it's been involved in many projects!
Where is your creative space?
I turned my spare room into a studio but it's a bit drafty during the winter so currently have a box of bits and bobs next to my cane rocking chair in the lounge.
What do you watch or listen to when you're creating?
I do love a bit of Find It, Fix It, Flog It or Bargain Hunt on TV. Musically, The Be Good Tanyas, Bear McCreary or The Cinematic Orchestra never fail to please.
What's your best selling product?
It was my Lip Balm and Bath Fizzers but now it's definitely my Tub Teas!
Favourite thing you've ever created? Do you still have it, or did you sell/gift it?
Two things come to mind: a large papier mâché bowl I made when I first left home, it's a bit battered now; and a gardening journal I made years ago for my dad as a Father's Day present.
Random fact about yourself?
I used to build computers and code websites.
What new craft would you love to try?
I'd like to learn pyrography and use this on my leather goods.
Where can customers buy your products?
Various events, Southwold Makers Market and Wenhaston Market or contact me direct.
Give a shout-out to a fellow artist or crafter you admire!
My sister 'Nicola Foreman Quilts', her needle work is just beautiful. When I was young she made me a lovely cloth doll with changes of clothes and even fluffy rabbit slippers! She still sits in my bedroom.
