Margaret Parsons 'Made in Pakefield', is a local artist and potter based by the sea. Margaret creates beautiful decorative pottery, using various techniques including hand build, press mound & slip casting, in a variety of clays such as porcelain, stoneware and bone china. Products include framed pottery pictures; 3D pottery pieces influenced by her surroundings of seaside, nature, people and her imagination. Look out for her sculptured creatures including owls, foxes and hares.

Describe your art/craft?
Decorative Pottery, using hand build, press mound,& slip casting, in a variety of clays Porcelain, Stoneware, Bone China making framed pottery pictures, 3D pottery pieces influenced by my surroundings seaside, nature, people and my imagination.
How long have you been creating? How did you learn your craft or were you self-taught?
I studied Ceramics at Lowestoft College and later worked at the revived Lowestoft Porcelain company, slip casting, fettling, glazing. Now I’m in my first year working for myself!
What are your favourite art/craft 'tools of the trade'?
My kiln is the most important tool without it I can’t produce anything.
Where is your creative space?
My home in Pakefield by the sea, and this year I’m starting my new build for an all purpose workshop studio in my garden.
What do you watch or listen to when you're creating?
Radio 2 and my vinyl collection which started from 1976!
What's your best selling product?
My pottery framed pictures
What is your most favourite piece of work you've ever created? Do you still have it, or did you sell/gift it?
My favourite piece A triptych framed picture of the moon and hare in blue with silver & mother of pearl lustre and was sold.
Random fact about yourself?
I am 5’2 and eyes of blue.
What new craft would you love to try?
I would like to do fused Glass.
Where can customers buy your products?
My Pottery is for sale Southwold Makers Market, Ferini Art Gallery, Pakefield, and Lowestoft Art Centre, Triangle Market, Lowestoft and I do take commissions. I’m now a member of The Anglian Potters and will be exhibiting with them this year.
