Interview With A Maker
Name/Business
Sara and Peny. PS GlassFusion
Describe your art/craft?
We make contemporary glass gifts and art for your home and are happy to take commissions.
How long have you been creating? How did you learn your craft or were you self-taught?
We have been working with glass for seven years. We both started with stained glass and moved into fusing. We studied with Teri Lockton and Arabella Marshall covering stained and fused glass.
What are your favourite art/craft 'tools of the trade'?
Our current favourite tool is our new large bowl moulds as the shapes they produce show off the glass so well.
Where is your creative space?
We work in our studio overlooking the marshes at the edge of the Broads national park or in the depth of the Suffolk countryside as we take a lot of our inspiration from nature.
What do you watch or listen to when you're creating?
We are both Radio 4 fans.
What's your best selling product?
Our best selling products are moon gazing hare range and seaside.
Favourite thing you've ever created? Do you still have it, or did you sell/gift it?
We made a fabulous cheese board using a reactive glass that changes colour in the kiln as a commission. The joy of this piece was in seeing how the glass came out.
Random fact about yourself?
glass likes to be 6mm thick
What new craft would you love to try?
We would like to try Lino cutting.
Where can customers buy your products?
We sell at Southwold, Hoxne artisan market or our Facebook site PS GlassFusion.
Give a shout-out to a fellow artist or crafter you admire!
Grayson Perry and his self portrait as it tells such a story oh and Lorraine's Bakes which we are both looking forward to.
