Sewing The Seeds Of Love
Describe your art/craft?
Quirky, bright and fun crochet.
How long have you been creating? How did you learn your craft or were you self-taught?
I've always loved to craft in some form or another ever since I was little.
After being made redundant from my job of 13 years in 2020, I decided to turn the negative into a positive and focus on my true passion that is crochet!
During this time I have been honoured to work on many commissions for different yarn companies and magazines and have been working as part of the design team for Simply Crochet Magazine since Jan 2020.
I started properly designing in 2019 where I was lucky enough to be asked to take over the Hobbycraft Instagram account for the day. After this I had the pleasure of designing regularly for Knitcraft (Hobbycraft’s sister page).
I also work as an Hobbycraft Artisan and continue to design for their website.
My passion for crochet and all things yarny has grown into a total squishy obsession!
What are your favourite art/craft 'tools of the trade'?
I love all crochet projects, but I think my favourite crochet style is amigurumi.
Where is your creative space?
At home with my 4 daughters, they are very keen to be involved with ideas for new projects!
What do you watch or listen to when you're creating?
I always love a good Netflix series that I can watch whilst working.
What's your best selling product?
My crochet wreaths are always a favourite.
Favourite thing you've ever created? Do you still have it, or did you sell/gift it?
It's got to be the first granny square that I designed, the #grannyinagrannysquare it went viral on Instagram, from this I scored my first magazine commission with Simply Crochet Magazine.
Random fact about yourself?
I have a BA(Hons) degree in fashion design.
What new craft would you love to try?
I would love to learn how to use resin. I love merging different crafts together and I have an idea of how I could merge crochet and resin together!
